Xynans (also known as Mythicals) are a species that are both human and mythical being. They have a mythical creature form, a form that looks completely human, and a third form that is human with bits of their mythical traits.
The Gem
What identifies a Xynan is a gem that rests in their body and holds their soul and power. This gem, if destroyed, will also destroy the Xynan. Gems are considered the loveliest part of a Xynan and the most cherished. A large gem can speak of great power, a clear gem a sign of the purity of purpose in a Xynan's soul (whether that purpose is a good one or a bad one does not matter), multiple gems a sign of complexity and power unable to be contained in just one gem.

Single Gem - Common
Multiple Gems - Uncommon to legendary (depending on the amount)
Small - Common
Medium - Uncommon
Large - Rare
Gem Placement
They can be found pretty much anywhere on the skin of the human body. They are not found on places that can be hidden away in human form, so no tails or horns. They are not found on genitalia.
Stolen Gems
Due to the beauty of the gems among the Xynan it isn't uncommon for Xynan to steal others gems. To steal a Xynan's gem is to enslave them to you. Though if you steal a Xynan's gem you must either have the power for them to not take it back or hide it in a place they can not find it.
Most Xynan will vow themselves to a clan or a powerful Xynan in order to protect themselves. This has helped keep Xynans safe from gem thieves, though it still happens. Especially to those who are born or vowed to a weak clan.
There is a black market for stolen gems and Xynan slaves, but it is underground and kept mostly hidden. Besides those in the black market the worst of the gem thieves are the Dragon Xynan. They are one of the most powerful clan and do not consider taking gems as stealing since dragons are known horders of shiny and beautiful things. Due to this, most Xynans cover their gems when they come across a Dragon Xynan. Dragon Xynan do not purposely seek out Xynan gems, but if one is uncovered and they take a liking to it, they aren't oppose to taking it.
Movable Gems
Gems tend to have to be connected to a Xynan otherwise it makes them weak. A Xynan will rarely remove their gems so it tends to make them ill and defenseless. It is partly why a Xynan might find it hard to retrieve their gem the longer they are away from it. There are only two known Xynan breeds that can remove their gems for long periods of time and that is Dragon Xynan and Phoenix Xynan.
Gems cannot change skin placement locations.
